WASHINGTON — Monica Lewinsky’s re-emergence in the national spotlight comes with a sense of humor.
“Please, no one ever buy this for me. ever,” Lewinsky tweeted Saturday about a gaudily decorated sweatshirt that includes not just sparkles, stars and a butterfly but also the numbers “1998.”
That’s the year the news broke that she had had an affair with President Bill Clinton.Â
Lewinsky recently credited the #MeToo movement with prompting her to rethink the issue of whether theirs was a consensual relationship.
In a February article for Vanity Fair, Lewinsky wrote she now sees that her relationship with Clinton was full of “inappropriate abuse of authority, station, and privilege.”Â
“Note to the trolls, both Democratic and Republican: none of the above excuses me for my responsibility for what happened,” Lewinsky also wrote in the piece. “I meet Regret every day.”
So, yeah, she doesn’t need a reminder about what happened in 1998.Â
But twitterers enjoyed her post.
Nothing wrong with a butterfly and a couple of stars..! ..oh.. er.. I see what you mean, maybe not..
