Thor: Ragnarok has already beaten the snot out of Thor, Thor 2 at the box office

Compared to the first and second Thor films, Thor: Ragnarok has been a smash hit with fans and critics alike, and the results of Marvel’s gambles on the movie are paying off at the box office. Just under two weeks into Ragnarok‘s theatrical run, it’s already destroyed its two Asgardian siblings, much the way the Thunder Lord does in the movies.

After just two weekends, the movie has pulled in $212 domestically, compared to $181 million and $206 million for the first two Thor films. Even after the worldwide pull so far is factored in, it still sits atop the trio with a $650 million worldwide take, compared to $449 and $644 million for the other two.

In the MCU’s pantheon, the movie hasn’t quite broken into the top 10. According to BoxOfficeMojo, Thor: Ragnarok sits at 12th, with Doctor Strange and Captain America: The Winter Soldier still sitting ahead of it with $232 and $259 million domestic totals, respectively.

While still financially successful, the Thor films have performed less impressively than Marvel’s other flagship series, with both Guardians, three Iron Man, and two Captain America films sitting head of it.
