We’re halfway to Halloween, and Disney is doling out plans like pieces of candy.
This year, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will return to Walt Disney World for 38 select nights from August to November. It’s the one time of year even grownups can dress in costume and trick-or-treat around Magic Kingdom.
Special tickets are required for the after-hours celebration, which is not included with standard theme park admission. Tickets go on sale to the general public on May 2, Disney Parks revealed Thursday. Guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and Shades of Green between April 27 and May 2 may purchase tickets after checking in to their resort.

Tickets include admission to Magic Kingdom for the duration of the event, which begins at 7 p.m. this year. Guests can usually enter the park a few hours early, but all day admission is not included with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tickets.
There is usually plenty of time to enjoy Magic Kingdom during the event, which has limited capacity for the party. Guests may want to avoid packing in a full park day beforehand anyway, since the event runs late into the night.
Many guests plan their night around Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular show and Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, which features special castle projections and fireworks. Other entertainment offerings typically include performances by the Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet and dance parties.
Another draw is the chance to see Disney characters not usually seen in the parks, like Jack Skellington and Sally from “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” various villains and classic characters in Halloween costumes. Meet-and-greet lines can get long, but wait times for attractions tend to be shorter than usual since capacity is limited for the event.
A virtual queue will be in place for the park’s newest attraction, TRON Lightcycle / Run, during the party.

Does Disney have military discounts? Yes, and so do these popular theme parks
This is an all ages party. Many adults attend without kids, but it is meant to appeal to even the youngest guests.
Guests can trick-or-treat for candy around the park, which is included with the event. Unlike Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, there is no other free food. There are however, lots of event-specific snacks available for purchase.
Guests of all ages are invited to dress in family-friendly costumes that are not “obstructive, offensive, objectionable or violent,” according to guidelines on Disney World’s website.
Accessories or props that may be mistaken for actual weapons are not allowed. Guests age 14 and up are also prohibited from wearing sharp or pointed objects or materials that could accidentally hurt fellow guests, costumes that reach the ground or drag on it, and costume masks of any kind.
Many, but not all, of the decorations Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Party guests enjoy at night can still be seen during the day, like the jack-o’-lanterns along Main Street, U.S.A.
