Tokyo 2020 Olympics could make medals out of recycled smartphones

For the sake of promoting sustainability, organizers are reportedly going to turn to the public to recycle their unused smartphones and turn them into Olympic immortality. Generally, the standard practice for gathering gold, silver, and copper is to ask mining companies for generous donations. However, Japan feels that it can gather the necessary metal from its “urban mine” over the next four years.

Organizers are also going to turn to Japan’s biggest electronics companies to educate people on the process of recycling phones.
