We now know what caused the OnePlus 5’s emergency call bug

Less than a week after it started rolling out an update to patch a firmware bug that resulted in the OnePlus 5 rebooting whenever you attempted to dial an emergency number, OnePlus has revealed exactly what caused the potentially life-threatening bug.

“The source of this issue was related to a modem memory usage issue that triggered a reboot. This reboot was a random occurrence for some users on VoLTE network where OTDOA protocol was triggered when placing an emergency call,” says the firm.

OnePlus worked with Qualcomm to patch the bug

OnePlus reportedly worked with chip manufacturer Qualcomm to fix the issue; a maintenance update was rushed through the distribution channels and released within just three days of our initial coverage going live, which is reassuring to say the least.
