Trying to find a PS5 or Xbox Series X? Here’s where to start
holiday shopping in full swing, and both video game consoles available to consumers for at least a month, consumers continue to struggle to find this season’s hottest gifts.
Although retailers have had both the PS5 and Xbox Series X in stock at times since November, both devices have immediately sold out, leaving many consumers wondering if they’ll ever find one before Christmas. Many stores are only selling the consoles online because of the pandemic.
So, what’s the best way to keep tabs on the availability of these devices? There’s no quick fix to finding either device without risk, but it’s possible to snag one this season.

Try a third party, but be careful
If you absolutely must have one as soon as possible, there’s always the option of buying through a third-party site like eBay. There are two problems with going this route: First, you will likely pay significantly above the $400-$500 standard price.
As of publishing, eBay has multiple PS5 listings at double the price. Second, it is easier to get scammed out of money. Your best option, unfortunately, is watching retailers for new stock and hoping you get lucky.
