The Flash’s most powerful villain so far hasn’t been Captain Cold or Reverse Flash, but rather Production Trouble, the powerful supervillain currently keeping the character’s standalone movie from getting under production. But Justice League might just change all that.
In a piece from the Wall Street Journal covering the upcoming superhero film, Warner Bros. producer Toby Emmerich had some interesting stuff to say about the character.
“In Justice League, Ezra Miller’s Flash, who is young, socially awkward, and hides his fear through humor, is viewed at Warner as the movie’s breakout character,†the Journal wrote. “Mr. Emmerch said a solo Flash film is a priority.â€
The article’s author Ben Fritz said on Twitter that Emmerich also told him that WB is “close to hiring a director†for Flashpoint. That’s been the movie’s biggest sticking point, with at least two directors – Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa – leaving the picture over creative differences. Getting a director on the picture could finally get it moving for a 2020 release.
