Sydney Sweeney Rocks AE Jeans After Controversy, Shares ‘Fave’ Winter Outfits
Sydney Sweeney is delivering a winter wardrobe moment in her favorite denim.
Months after her infamous American Eagle campaign sparked massive online controversy, the actress, 28, shared new photos in which she rocks a pair of her trusted AE jeans along with other stylish getups from her snow-capped getaway.
“Some fave winter fits from my trip ft @americaneagle #aepartner #aejeans,” she captioned her Wednesday, January 7, Instagram post.
The first pic featured a selfie showing Sweeney wearing a fitted dark-washed pair along with a cream-colored sherpa sweater and a long scarf draped loosely around her neck. She completed her look with fluffy earmuffs, nude square sunglasses, knit gloves and tall, fuzzy shearling boots.
Sweeney posted another beaming photo with Santa Clause, in which she wore a pink puffer jacket, a patterned scarf and a beanie while posing in front of a rainbow and cotton candy-colored sky. She also rocked a white jacket that cinched at her waist paired with black leggings as well as knee-high socks and boots while standing in front of a tall Christmas tree.
The official Instagram for Megève, a ski resort nestled in the heart of the Alps of southeastern France, commented on her prior post, writing, “Thank you for your visit ! Hope you enjoyed our WinterWonderland.”
Sweeney rocked her AE jeans with pride after facing criticism last summer, when she starred in a July 23 campaign featuring the double entendre tagline “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.”
Soon after its debut, the ad sparked a debate about race and beauty standards due to its play on the word “genes.”
“Sydney thinks this whole thing has been blown out of proportion,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in August 2025 of the actress’ response to the backlash. “She’s focusing her energy on work, including being back on set with her Euphoria family.”
Sweeney later cleared the air in a November interview for GQ’s cover story. “I did a jean ad. I mean, the reaction definitely was a surprise, but I love jeans. All I wear are jeans,” she said at the time. “I knew at the end of the day what that ad was for, and it was great jeans, it didn’t affect me one way or the other.”

She continued, “I wasn’t thinking of it like that, of any of it. I kind of just put my phone away. I was filming every day. I’m filming Euphoria, so I’m working 16-hour days and I don’t really bring my phone on set, so I work and then I go home and I go to sleep. So I didn’t really see a lot of it.”
The Housemaid star brushed off the critics and has continued to focus on her career, recently posing naked on the latest cover of W Magazine, which made headlines one day before she took to her Stories with more of her favorite winter ensembles.
In one of her latest fashion-forward photos, Sweeney posed in a textured cream double-breasted coat with oversized labels paired with lace-up shearling-lined boots and a small handbag. Another stylish snap showed her in a black puffer jacket layered over black leggings. She completed her look with a black knit beanie and a white Dior logo scarf.
