Nintendo of Japan revealed three new screenshots for Splatoon 2. They come from the game’s Twitter account, and the feature one of the new maps in the multiplayer mode.
The stage’s name in Japanese is “フジツボスãƒãƒ¼ãƒ„クラブ†(Fujitsubo Sports Club), according to the tweet. I had no idea what “fujitsubo†meant, so I took to Google. That search result quickly yields tons of information, in Japanese, about barnacles.
Anyways, here are the shots of the stage.
It feels weird that Splatoon 2 is on its way. The original launched on May 28, 2015. Sure, we’re set to be at least two years beyond that initial launch date when the sequel releases, but I didn’t think Nintendo would pump out a new game in the series for a while.
Blame it on the Switch, I suppose. Splatoon was enormous in Japan for Nintendo. With the Nintendo Switch, Splatoon 2 could be the biggest system seller the company has in its home country in 2017. Yes, even bigger than Zelda.
Splatoon 2 doesn’t have a precise release date, though it is slated for the summer of this year.
