The upcoming Spider-Man spin off, Silver and Black, now has a release date, and it’s dropping during a busy time of a busy year for superhero movies – not that there are any slow years in superhero movies anymore. Silver and Black, directed and written by Gina- Prince-Bythewood, is set to his theaters on February 8, 2019.
Let’s take a moment to look at what else is coming out around then.
Just a week after that, on Valentine’s Day, Fox has something X-Men related planned. Then, on March 8, the MCU movie Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson, hits theaters, kicking off a new character and likely introducing a new villain. And then April has the DCEU film Shazam! striking like a bolt of lightning.
As a side note, I think it’s great that the original Captain Marvel, Shazam, hits theaters just a month after the Captain Marvel that won the legal right to use the name. I hope they can keep that tight scheduling.
Then, May 3rd is the premiere of the fourth Avengers film, which ends the MCU’s so-called Phase 3. Fox allegedly has another X-Men/mutant film scheduled for June 7, and then the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel hits on July 5th. It’s not until then that we get a break in scheduled superhero movies.
