Last weekend, the Super Smash Bros. Melee world record for the Home Run Contest was broken. Specifically, this is the record for Link. The contest has players beat a sandbag for 10 seconds before launching it across a stage for the most distance.
The record set back in 2008 for Link? 3,570 feet. The new record? 3,591.6 feet.
The person who set both records? Mike “Typo†Bassett.
Typo tweeted the record-breaking run in video form. He added that he’s employing a new method to attain the distance.

Even now, Typo’s indicated that he’s going for more length. He’s tweeting out to people to figure out Link’s hitbox in order to “optimize†his Home Run Contest strategy. Awesome.
