Shailene Woodley’s Stylist Puts ‘Trigger Warning’ Before Photo of Emmys Look
Stylist Karla Welch is poking fun at the criticism surrounding Shailene Woodley’s 2026 Emmy Awards look.
The stylist, 52, took to Instagram on Wednesday, September 16, to spotlight Woodley, 34, in Balenciaga for TV’s biggest night.
Welch led the carousel of photos with a black screen featuring white letters reading, “Trigger warning.” When fans swiped to the next image, it showed Woodley striking a pose in her outfit on the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
For the Monday, September 14, event, she wore a blue top featuring a plunging scoop neckline. Woodley tucked the loosely-fitted tank into gold wide-leg pants that were finished with beaded embellishments. She accessorized with maroon gloves and a rainbow stone necklace.
For glam, Woodley donned soft makeup including dewy skin, bronzed cheeks, manicured brows, a touch of mascara and pink, lined lips. She wore her brunette hair parted down the middle and slicked back in a low ponytail that covered her ears.
“We ♥️ @pppiccioli 🌹,” Welch captioned the pic, tagging Balenciaga’s creative director, Pier Paolo Piccioli. “And the hands that make haute couture magic! Merci to all @balenciaga.”
Welch’s playful post came one day after she clapped back at negative comments. “Love or hate something fine but it’s an opinion,” she wrote via Instagram Threads on Tuesday, September 15. “It can even be a conversation but being super rude and mean and taking glee from it, well, that says a lot more about the mouths it’s coming from. 🖤.”
While some fans loved Woodley’s look, others including Melissa Rivers and Gabby Windey, were not here for it.

On Tuesday, Rivers, 58, exclusively told Us that Woodley was on her worst dressed list. “I see Shailene’s look walking down the runway,” Rivers explained. “It’s not for civilians.”
Windey, 35, also shared her thoughts on Woodley’s ensemble during an episode of her “Long Winded” podcast, saying, “Her stylist did her … what is dirtier than dirty? Filthy. Filthy! Balenciaga, for that matter, I don’t know what was going on or why it was even an option [or] brought to her. Normally she does look so hot. … Actually, that is grounds for sabotage and for jail. I would fire every single person after that. That is grounds for firing. Public humiliation.”
She continued, “And her hair person? It wasn’t even a slick back low ponytail. It was just a ponytail that was just kind of there and covering her.”
