OnePlus has confirmed the last major software up for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will be Android O, a mere 14 months since debuting last year.
The news was broken by OnePlus in a forum for its devices. The OnePlus 3 debuted in June 2016 while the OnePlus 3T was a minor mid-year update released in November, meaning software updates for the devices only lasted a year and a half. Thatâ€™s really disappointing if you picked up one of these phones. OnePlus prides itself on providing the best experience for its customers but this move fails them miserably.

Android O is going to be the last Android version update weâ€™ll release for OP3/3T. Weâ€™ll continue to release security patch updates for the foreseeable future, and offer support for individual application updates. After the OP3/3T have been updated to Android O, weâ€™ll start moving the Open Beta Program from OP3/3T to OP5.
OnePlus seems to be shifting the focus of its efforts towards its newer flagship, the OnePlus 5. Thatâ€™s understandable, but to cut off major upgrades (other than security patches) to a major smartphone that was released less than a year ago is a major letdown. It will put customersâ€™ trust in the company to the test and make them reconsider whether at all to buy its newest flagships and possibly risk losing major updates within two years.
