If you look at the bottom of the left Joy-Con’s face, you’ll see a square button with a circle in it. That’s the Nintendo Switch’s screenshot sharing button.
At launch, you’ll be able to press that button, take a screenshot, edit the screenshot and share it on social media. We know this officially because Nintendo clarified that button with Kotaku. The company even indicated plans to bring video sharing to the Switch, too.
The Capture Button is located on the Joy-Con (L) controller and the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, and lets users grab screenshots from their games. They can then view, edit (add text of various sizes, colors and positions) and post them to social media. The original unedited screenshot is also saved.
We are planning to add the ability to record video in the future.
The Nintendo Switch sounds meme-ready
That ability to “add text of various sizes, colors and positions†to in-game screenshots makes it sound like Nintendo designed the Nintendo Switch to potentially unload a wealth of memes. Imagine the absurd stuff we’ll see on social media once Zelda: Breath of the Wild drops and players start going meme crazy.
Sounds good to me.
The Nintendo Switch launches worldwide on March 3, 2017.
