New app aims to assistance families of blank and murdered Indigenous women and girls

An innovative new app has been grown to yield support and resources for families of blank and murdered Indigenous women and girls.

The Taken Knowledge Keeper app allows users to emanate an manuscript with sum about their desired one, assistance control a hunt if a desired one goes blank and provides a missing-person movement devise toolkit.

The interactive app was grown in tandem with a true-crime TV array Taken, that examines cases of blank and murdered Indigenous women and girls.

“As we ensue with Taken, we do all smoothly and did that with this as well,” said Rebecca Gibson, co-creator and control author of Taken.

“The Taken Knowledge app is a place where desired ones can firmly keep a information that they have about their desired one’s box and maybe get some tips and some resources if your desired one goes missing.”

“We didn’t have anything and a lot of families after us didn’t have anything for a prolonged time,” Smith said.

“A lot of families have entrance to smartphones so we can download that app, afterwards it’s right on your phone and it’s accessible.”

The app was grown with support from a Digital Archives and Marginalized Communities project, housed during Mamawipawin, an Indigenous governance and investigate space during a University of Manitoba. Several U of M researchers contributed to a app.
