After announcing its plans a little less than two years ago, Google has finally been granted permission for an 18.6-acre expansion of its Mountain View campus, which is set to include a 595,000-square-foot building designed by Bjarke Ingles Group and Heatherwick Studio.
As noted by the Mountain View Voice, the main structure — known as Google Charleston East — will consist of a “cluster of smaller buildings, all housed within a tent-like canopy†that will allow natural light to enter, while “also serving as possibly the largest solar array ever built.â€
