Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. the Metal Gear spin-off from Hideo Kojima and the wizards at PlatinumGames, can now be played on modern day consoles for the first time.
Metal Gear Solid 2 is one of the most controversial and polarizing games of all time. Criticized upon release for being too confusing and having long, overly written dialogue, it’s now sometimes seen as ahead of its time by predicting a world dominated by digital information. Those who control the flow of information can control the world. It’s an ideology that created the Patriots, a behind-the-scenes group of elites who secretly run Metal Gear’s universe.
And it’s about as true as it gets in 2017.
In retrospect, those extended dialogue scenes were quite profound, something my 15-year-old brain had quite a lot of trouble grasping at the time. Maybe it would have been easier if we didn’t have to sift through Raiden’s and his fiancee Rosemary’s quibbles every other time the Codec rang in my ears.
