Margot Robbie Wears Elizabeth Taylor’s $8.8 Million Necklace on Red Carpet
Margot Robbie was fit for a queen at the Wuthering Heights premiere.
Robbie, 35, stunned in a Schiaparelli gown at the movie’s premiere in Los Angeles on Wednesday, January 28. Her frock featured a strapless sweetheart neckline and a sheer bodice adorned with elegant black lace. Her skirt owned the moment with a black drop-waist, a massive bow on her back and a cherry red hem that flared out.
The actress, who plays Catherine Earnshaw in the movie, opened up about her look on the red carpet. When a reporter asked who she was wearing, Robbie put her hands over her chest and gushed, “Elizabeth Taylor’s necklace!” Robbie then showcased the piece and said, “Isn’t it cool?” per Bustle’s TikTok.
Her jewelry featured a large heart-shaped diamond that was set on a twisted gold chain. The stone, which was made in the 17th century, is also known as the Taj Mahal diamond, as it’s inscribed with Nur Janan’s name, who was the wife of Mughal emperor Shah Jahangir. It’s also engraved with “Love is Everlasting.” The gem sold for $8.8 million in 2011. Robbie styled the look with crystal dangling earrings.
Robbie also told Extra TV that the piece “felt like it had a lot of romantic history,” which “felt appropriate for tonight.”
Bustle then pointed out that the necklace cascaded down Robbie’s back with tassel details. Robbie noted that she was accessorizing with the late Taylor’s “cape,” which her assistant held for her.
“She wore it in the Taming of the Shrew,” she said, noting the movie came out in 1967. “When she’s riding a horse,” Robbie added.
Fans went wild over Robbie’s look in the comments section. “Now that is a dress for Margot 😍,” one wrote, while a second commented, “Oh wow! That’s the Taj Mahal diamond necklace!” A third praised, “She looks AMZINGGGGGGGGGG.”
Robbie tied her look together with soft makeup, including dewy foundation, manicured eyebrows, minimal pink eyeshadow, rosy cheeks, mascara and pink lips. Her blonde hair was parted down the middle and styled in an elegant updo. She further accessorized with strappy black heels.
On the red carpet, she posed with her costar Jacob Elordi, who plays Heathcliff. Elordi, 28, looked cool in an all-black outfit complete with a sartorial blazer, a dark dress shirt and fitted pants.
Elordi’s brunette hair was styled in loose waves with his bags cut slightly above his eyebrows. The rest of his hair was grown out in the back.
The duo wrapped their arms around each other while getting their photograph taken and beaming for the camera.

According to IMDb, Wuthering Heights follows “a passionate and tumultuous love story set against the backdrop of the Yorkshire moors, exploring the intense and destructive relationship between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw.” The movie is set to premiere in theaters on February 13.
Robbie also told Extra TV that watching the movie is a “perfect date night.”
She added, “It’s perfect [for] Valentine’s, it’s perfect [for] Galentine’s. It’s a great night out.”
