Apple announced its most powerful computer ever, the iMac Pro, back in June, and since then we’ve heard very few details. That was until a major feature was discovered over the weekend. The iMac Pro will reportedly include an A10 Fusion chip that will enable the always-on feature “Hey Siri.â€
Steve Troughton-Smith and Guilherme Rambo stumbled upon the feature when they were digging through code for Apple’s BridgeOS 2.0. The new iMac Pro will supposedly come equipped with an A10 Fusion chip and 512MB of RAM. According to Troughton-Smith, the A10 chip will always be running, even when the iMac Pro is turned off. This may mean that “Hey Siri†will work even when the computer is shut down.
With “Hey Siri†available on the iPhone, it was only a matter of time before it made its way to the Mac.
Troughton-Smith also noted the A10 chip will also handle the booting up process with SecureBoot for the iMac Pro when it is initially turned on. After which the x86 Intel processor will take over to handle the main processing responsibilities. This should increase the speed of the bootup process significantly.
Now all that is left is for the iMac Pro to go on sale next month for the insane price of $4,999.
