Kate Middleton is making a fashion statement — one impeccably styled look at a time.

The Princess of Wales, 43, has started taking charge of her sartorial choices following the departure of her longtime stylist, Natasha Archer, aides shared with The Times in a new interview.

She is “very much in control” of her wardrobe, according to the aides, referring to her gown selections and style details at the last state banquets.

Kate was the one to decide to wear Queen Victoria’s Oriental Circlet tiara when the royal family welcomed the president of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in December 2025, opting to combine the iconic heirloom with a lilac gown from one of her go-to designers Jenny Packham.

The mom of three — who shares Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis with husband Prince William — also put her creative touch on the look she wore in honor of the state banquet welcoming President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump to the United Kingdom in September 2025, per the report.

For the special occasion, Kate dazzled in a full-length couture silk crepe gown by British designer Phillipa Lepley paired with a hand-embroidered gold Chantilly lace evening coat.

She completed her ensemble with earrings that once belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth II, adding the Royal Family Order of King Charles III and the Royal Family Order of Elizabeth II as well as the Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order star and sash. She also donned the beautiful Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara.

Prior to that, Kate wowed in an eye-catching red silk crepe gown for her first state banquet in the wake of her cancer battle.

She made a grand entrance at the event welcoming the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, and his wife, Brigitte, in July 2025. Kate was a vision in the dramatic number designed by Sarah Burton for Givenchy.

An insider told Us Weekly exclusively last August that Kate was delicately balancing family and royal duties. “Kate knows visibility is crucial for maintaining the monarchy’s profile, but she doesn’t need to be at everything,” said the source. “She’s [being more] intentional.”

“Kate listens to her advisers, but ultimately it’s up to her doctors,” added the insiders. “They guide her decisions.”

Even without the help of her longtime stylist, Kate is certainly making a name for herself as a fashionista, considering Vogue featured the royal on their 2025 Best Dressed Brits list.

The Princess of Wales was hailed for her “Kate effect” as an “eternal influencer” and “culture-shaper” whose “quiet support can change the trajectory of a brand.”

Archer, who was originally hired as a personal assistant in 2010, made headlines last July when news broke that she was leaving her gig with Kate to pursue a new business venture after being promoted to senior private executive assistant in 2022.

It was later revealed that Kate didn’t have any plans to hire a replacement. “Kate has always been very involved in choosing her outfits for royal engagements,” a source told People. “She is so confident, she knows exactly what suits her and what doesn’t.”
