Here’s Zelda: Breath of the Wild in 4K

When the Nintendo Switch is docked, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild can achieve a maximum resolution of 900p.

When it’s emulated on the PC, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild can reach 4K. Here it is in video form.

Of course, it doesn’t perform as well as it should. But, it likely will as it’s iterated upon in the emulation community.

This comes from YouTuber Abyssus. They explain that it’s running on Cemu internally at 8K and downsampled to 4K. They’ve turned off anti-aliasing and enabled higher quality shadows. The video was captured at 60fps, but the game only hits 30fps.

Oh, and then they list the PC hardware it took them to get there.

PC specs:
i7-6700k
GTX 1080 Ti
3840×2160 resolution
Cemu 1.9.0c

That’s a beefy rig.

This is usually where the call for Nintendo to go third party starts, right? Honestly, aside from the framerate issues, I didn’t have a problem with Breath of the Wild’s visuals. In fact, I’d offer it’s a gorgeous game that owes a lot to its art design.
