September is going to be a big month for Amazon Prime Video. Amazon is not only adding its usual long list of movies and shows, it’s also debuting its lucrative streaming deal with the NFL during the month.
Back in April, Amazon outbid Twitter and Yahoo to gain exclusive rights to stream 10 Thursday Night Football games during the 2017 NFL season. The first game will take place on September 28 between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. Amazon shelled out a staggering $50 million for the games, but that seems to be the price of doing business with the NFL right now.
In case you’re not into sports, don’t worry, Amazon has you covered. September sees the return of Amazon’s critically acclaimed series Transparent for its fourth season starring Jeffrey Tambor. Transparent earned multiple Emmys and Golden Globes, including a Best Actor statue in each awards show for Tambor.
The comedy One Mississippi is also returning for its second season.
The major original movie debuting in the month is The Lost City of Z. It stars Charlie Hunnam, Sienna Miller, Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland and follows the story of Col. Percival Fawcett’s disappearance as he searches for a mysterious city in the Amazon during the 1920’s.
Wedding Crashers, Ben-Hur and The Magnificent Seven round out the list of movies being added during the month.
