Marc Laidlaw was a writer for the Half-Life series. You know, the series Valve stopped making games for around 10 years ago. Laidlaw started with Valve on Half-Life in 1998 and left in 2016. Now, supposedly, the 10 year NDA for the next Half-Life game ran out just recently. That statement is pure hearsay, but it does line up with what Laidlaw did.
He took to his own site and posted “Epistle 3,†and it contains a full account of what happens next for Half-Life. Laidlaw genderswapped and name changed the characters, but fans can easily draw a line between the famous Gordon Freeman and Laidlaw’s new “Gertie Fremont.â€
If you’re interested, you can read the post for yourself. I’ve linked it above and in the source below.
Some fans are marking this as the end of the series. Laidlaw, the logic goes, wouldn’t publish this if the game were still coming. Yet, here we are, 10 years removed from the last Half-Life game, and the most diehard fans are calling this the end.
I believe them.
