Google said to launch two LG Android Wear 2.0 watches on Feb. 9
When Google begins rolling out Android Wear 2.0 early next month, it will also launch two new smartwatches in partnership with LG.
According to a report from VentureBeat, the search giant has teamed up with LG to release the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style, devices that were previously uncovered last year. These devices are expected to be unveiled on Feb. 9 and made available the next day in the U.S., with a wider rollout expected throughout February and March.
The Watch Sport is said to be the more advanced of the two devices, featuring a heart rate sensor, IP68 water and dust resistance, GPS, NFC for Android Pay, cellular connectivity, and a larger 1.38-inch display.
The Watch Style, meanwhile, will reportedly sport a 1.2-inch display, IP67 water and dust resistance, and a 240mAh battery. It sounds like the Style will be geared more towards everyday general use, while the Sport will be targeted at the active crowd.
They’ll both sport Google Assistant
VentureBeat claims the Watch Sport will come in titanium and dark blue, while the Watch Style will be available in titanium, silver, and rose gold; the Style is said to feature swappable straps.
Finally, Google Assistant is expected to be heavily integrated into both devices, allowing users to query the assistant right from their wrist. Google has brought Assistant to a number of platforms—phone, home, TV—since the AI was unveiled last year and the wrist seems like a natural extension.
No pricing was revealed but we should know all the details when Google unveils the devices on Feb. 9.
