It makes sense for a device like Google Home, which is typically used in a setting where multiple people might want to use it, to support more than just one user. There were signs that Google was planning to add support for multiple accounts in early March when Android Police dug around inside the code of the Home version 1.21 update. Now it’s finally coming.
“Users have started seeing a new card in the Discover tab of the Google Home app titled ‘Multiple users now supported’,†the site reports. “The card says that you and others in your house can enjoy a ‘personalized experience’ from Assistant on the Google Home, but so far the feature doesn’t appear to be live just yet.â€
It’s unclear if this card was supposed to appear quite this early, or whether someone at Google jumped the gun. But either way, this confirms that multiple user support is coming — and soon. It’s not yet clear how many users Home will allow you to add, or exactly how the speaker will identify which user is in control.
But this is an exciting development for Home owners with families and roommates. Do you see multiple user support in the Home app yet?
