DJI Osmo Action has one major feature GoPro doesn’t

GoPro has long been the king of the action camera market, but its crown is being challenged. DJI on Wednesday introduced the Osmo Action, a small action camera that has one killer feature GoPro doesn’t: a front-facing display, making it much easier to capture selfie videos.

Otherwise, DJI’s tiny new action cam looks a lot like the GoPro Hero7 Black, and it offers many of the same features, including image stabilization, 4K video at 60fps, and 8x slow motion. Both cameras are also waterproof, with the Osmo Action protected down to a depth of 11 meters.

The DJI Osmo Action stands out for a few reasons: it’s $349, whereas the Hero7 Black is $400. The Osmo Action also offers a front-facing full-color display, so you can easily frame selfie shots, making the camera great for vlogging. DJI’s action cam also shoots 4K HDR video, while the Hero7 Black does not, and it supports a variety of filters that can be screwed onto the camera body.
