Deus Ex games put on hiatus by Square Enix as Eidos Montreal works on other stuff

That’s right, in case you missed the news last week, Square Enix has paired up with Marvel for a few video games. Eidos Montreal is working on a game for Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers. That bit about Guardians? That’s a rumor, too, heard by Eurogamer. The Avengers title has been officially announced.

With the Marvel projects, something had to give

Eidos Montreal is easily one of Square Enix’s best western studios. If they were tapped to work on not only The Avengers but also Guardians of the Galaxy, other projects had to take a break. If Deus Ex‘s sales weren’t what Square Enix wanted, then it makes sense that it would be the franchise to warm the bench.

Hopefully all of this is temporary.
