Crackdown 3 delayed Microsoft confirms

The centerpiece of Microsoft’s fall lineup, Crackdown 3, is the centerpiece no more. Microsoft confirmed to Polygon that the open-world supercop action game would be moving from its November 7 launch alongside the Xbox One X to a spring 2018 release.

Microsoft Studios Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis said that the company chose to delay the game’s release on both Xbox One and PC to give the trio of developers, Reagent Games, Sumo Digital, and Cloudgine, a bit more time to polish the experience.

“We’re very excited about Crackdown 3 and so are many fans,” Loftis said in an email to Polygon. “And so it’s a difficult call to remove the release date.”

“However, we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time. Crackdown 3 is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game, whether that’s campaign, co-op multiplayer, or our competitive multiplayer mode, Wrecking Zone,” Loftis continued. “Getting the balance right between the three modes is important, and we are going to take the extra development time to ensure that.”
