Back in the days of Burnout 3: Takedown, arguably the finest racing video game ever made, I never actually did all that much racing. Crash Mode was where all the real fun was at, creating massive fender benders and watching as your destruction piled up in dollar bills.
When the Burnout series went under and EA gave preference to Need for Speed, this important feature sadly found itself missing from our lives. Thankfully, it’s now on its way back. Three Fields Entertainment, founded by Burnout creator Alex Ward, has announced its new project called Danger Zone, and it’s exactly what it looks like.
Burnout’s Crash Mode has found itself a spiritual successor.
Shunt vehicles into oncoming traffic, take down trailers to shed their payloads and use your explosive SmashBreaker to move your vehicle around. The more explosions you cause, the bigger your score.
If you’re feeling burnt out by congestion and jammed roads, take your revenge on rush hour traffic. This place is a paradise for those who like their driving flame-grilled.
