Apple Store in London ransacked by moped-riding robbers

Apple’s flagship retail store in London was robbed in the early morning hours on Monday. A group of ten thieves riding five mopeds crashed into the Regent Street location to collect phones, tablets, and smartwatches.

Two security guards attempted to prevent the thieves from carrying out their robbery, but the duo was threatened with hammers. The thieves made their way into the retail store just by driving mopeds into glass doors and windows, which has become a common occurrence in London. Witnesses saw the thieves ransack the store and grab devices that were on display stands before getting back on the mopeds and leaving.

One of the mopeds got left behind, and two of the stolen iPhone X units were retrieved nearby. Police encourage any witnesses or people with additional information on the situation to contact them.

With its iPhone X now on the market, Apple is expected to face an increasing number of robberies or at least attempts. Thieves are trying to get their hands on the $999 device (and other Apple products) to turn around for huge profits. Earlier this month a group of thieves stole $370,000 worth of iPhone X units from a UPS truck in California.

The Apple Store on Regent Street is already open again and operating without any issues.
