Apple Q3 2018 Results: iPhone Sales Stagnant With New Models on the Horizon

  • July 31, 2018

Apple on Tuesday announced results for the quarter ending on June 30, revealing it sold 41.3 million iPhones, 11.5 million iPads, and 3.7 million Macs. Wall Street estimates projected Apple to sell 41.79 million iPhone models, which the Cupertino company missed.

Compared to the same period last year, Apple’s iPhone sales are up, but not by much. The current lineup of the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X bested the year-over-year results of 41.03 million iPhone models sold. Apple didn’t provide a granular sales breakdown of which iPhone model was most popular, but CEO Time cook recently revealed the iPhone X was its best seller.

Apple posted quarterly revenue of $53.3 billion, propelling it to its best-ever June quarter.

“We’re thrilled to report Apple’s best June quarter ever, and our fourth consecutive quarter of double-digit revenue growth,” Cook said. “Our Q3 results were driven by continued strong sales of iPhone, Services and Wearables, and we are very excited about the products and services in our pipeline.”

Apple is currently rumored to introduce a new lineup of iPhone models, a redesigned iPad Pro, an Apple Watch refresh, and a refresh to its AirPods. Many of these products will likely be announced in the fall.
