Alysa Liu commanded her big moment with a side of glam.
The Olympic gold medalist, 20, had fans talking when she took a moment to make her pout shine on Thursday, February 19.
She put on a quick swatch of Rare Beauty’s Tinted Lip Oil Stain in the Muted Berry shade before accepting her gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
“Alysa Liu going ‘where’s my lipstick’ and pulling out the rare beauty tinted lip oil. Icon,” one fan wrote on social media, referring to Selena Gomez’s popular brand. “[Alysa Liu] going to get her lipstick before getting her gold medal she’s just a girl,” added another X user.
“[Rare Beauty] needs to contact alysa liu lol she’s reapplying that tinted lip oil,” a third echoed. “Someone at Rare Beauty better be getting Alysa Liu’s brand deal ready — immediately turning back to go get that lip gloss she left on the seat 😂😂,” a fourth agreed via X.
Liu was off to a great start at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan and Cortina, Italy, earning her first gold medal win in the team event alongside Amber Glenn, Ilia Malinin, Ellie Kam, Daniel O’Shea, Madison Chock and Evan Bates on February 8.
She proved to be a force to be reckoned with yet again when she clinched her second gold medal while competing in the women’s figure skating free skate on February 19, defeating rivals Kaori Sakamoto and Ami Nakai, who walked away with silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Liu was beaming with pride while sporting the long-wearing product described as creating the “most comfortable, buildable kiss of color and shine” for a “bold, juicy” pop.
Prior to Liu’s big win, the U.S. hadn’t won an individual women’s Olympic figure skating title since 2002.
Liu has not only been a topic of conversation because of her accomplishments but also her edgy sense of style.
“Every year, I add a stripe,” Liu told NBC News about her iconic hair, which features bleached and dark brunette horizontal sections, in January. “It’s going to be like this for a year, then — next wintertime, end of December — I do another ring.”
Liu revealed to Paralympian Haven Shepherd that it took a process to achieve her eye-catching mane.
“To get this light, I had to go to a salon,” she explained during an interview posted via TikTok on February 10. “I couldn’t lift my hair like this. It lifted good, not good enough. So, I went to a salon and she redid the other stripes just so it would match.”

Liu also recently discussed her frenulum piercing, seen in her upper gums, which some viewers mistook as teeth gems.
“Someone called my style ‘alternative’ and I’d agree with that,” Liu dished to NBC affiliate TMJ4 News. “I love fashion a lot.”
Liu said she got the piercing a little over two years ago. “I had my sister hold up my lip,” she told the outlet, “and I was looking in the mirror, and I had my piercing needle and yeah, just put it through.”
