Apple may launch a variant of the iPhone 8 with a 5.8-inch OLED display, as well as two smaller, presumably more affordable LCD-toting devices, revealed Japanese business outlet Nikkei Asian Review on Sunday, backing up similar rumors.

It’s believed that the 5.8-inch model will sport an edge-to-edge display, though only 5.1-inches will be available for practical use as the rest of the space is rumored to be reserved for a Touch Bar-style function area, which will replace the traditional home button.

The two lower-end models, on the other hand, will reportedly pack 5.5- and 4.7-inch panels. However, it remains unclear whether they’ll also be graced with the new function area, or will feature the same taptic home key as the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

As you’d expect, the larger OLED display will have an affect on the price of the next-generation iPhone, with a recent report hinting that it could retail for more than $1,000.

3D face recognition, too

It certainly seems like Apple has big plans for the iPhone 8 (after all, this year marks the tenth anniversary of the iPhone). Aside from a fresh design, it’s also thought to have 3D face recognition technology on board and wireless charging capabilities.
