24-year-old Swatter sentenced to three years in prison

One swatter has confessed to computer fraud and spreading child pornography.

Swatting is a trend that’s, thankfully, died down a lot recently. Trolls would call the cops on someone streaming a video game, claim there was a kidnapping or some intense potential for violence, and the police would send a SWAT team to their house. Trolls would watch as the stream got interrupted by the police.

This, as you can imagine, is terrifying for the victim and winds up costing the city where it happens loads of money. Mobilizing a SWAT unit isn’t cheap.

This man confessed, and he’s going to jail

The 24-year-old unidentified man confessed to multiple attempts to swat streamers with one large success, computer fraud and the possession and spread of child porn. The German court, according the translation offered up on NeoGAF, sentenced him to a total of 3.5 years in prison.
