According to the report — which cited Westbrook’s agent, Jeff Schwartz — Utah is expected to complete a $47 million buyout, the full amount remaining on Westbrook’s expiring deal.

Westbrook, 34, will join former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Paul George on a Clippers team expected to contend for an NBA title. The Clippers are 33-28 this season.

The 2016-17 NBA MVP averaged 15.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 7.5 assists for the Lakers in 52 games, three of which he started. He averaged 28.7 minutes played per game, the lowest amount of his career. Westbrook did not play a game with Utah.
According to ESPN, Westbrook also discussed deals with the Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards and Miami Heat before choosing the Clippers.
