in connection with the spitting accusation leveled by Landry. The fine was disclosed Saturday.

After seeing a viral video clip from “Monday Night Football,” Landry thought Peters spit at him behind his back at the end of the first quarter of the Browns’ 47-42 loss to the Ravens.

An ESPN camera caught Peters appearing to spit toward Landry with the receiver’s back turned as he walked away from the defender.

“I wasn’t aware to it [until] after the game, obviously, but he’s a coward,” Landry told reporters Thursday on Zoom. “He knew that maybe behind my back he could do things like that, but to my face he wouldn’t. Take it for what it’s worth and now I know. Everybody knows the type of player he is, the type of person he is and just move on from there.”

Ravens CB Marcus Peters denied that he spit at Jarvis Landry.

Later Thursday, Peters denied the accusation in a statement passed along by a Ravens spokesman.

“I didn’t spit at Jarvis,” Peters said in the statement. “Where I come from, when you have an issue with someone, you deal with it face-to-face, man-to-man. Anyone who believes that I intentionally spit at him does not know me — plain and simple.”

On Friday, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski declined to comment during his media availability, but Ravens coach John Harbaugh weighed in while speaking to Baltimore reporters via Zoom.
