Former Baylor basketball star Mark Vital signed to Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad
Baylor Bears to the 2021 NCAA men’s basketball tournament championship this past spring, will be playing a different sport this fall.
On Thursday, the Seattle Seahawks signed the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Vital to their practice squad and will have him play tight end. He has not played football since middle school.
“I’ve worked out for a couple of teams and they liked the way I looked,” Vital recently told KPLCTV.com. “They said I had great hands and I was fast and big. I can do a lot of things that can help teams. It’s a learning experience because it’s something different.”
Vital started all 30 games this past season for Baylor, averaging 5.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game as the Bears finished 28-2 and defeated Gonzaga in the NCAA title game. He also played three games in the NBA Summer League for the Portland Trail Blazers.
