In professional darts, the women can more than hold their own with the men. Fallon Sherrock proved it this week at the PDC World Darts Championship in London, England, where she made history by becoming the first woman to defeat a man in the competition.Â
Sherrock made darts history by defeating Ted Evetts 3-2 in the first round of the championships. Needing a double 18 in the decisive fifth round to finish off the win, she nailed it on the second throw of her turn to send the packed venue into a jubilant celebration.
“I’m speechless, I don’t know what to say,” Sherrock said on stage after her win, according to The Guardian. “I feel really happy because I have proven something for women’s darts, that women can play the men and beat them, so fingers crossed this is a move in the right direction. I’m over the moon, I can’t believe it!”Â
