The most expensive high school basketball jersey ever to be sold at an auction belonged to a man who has no NCAA stats or any minutes logged in the NBA.

Barack Obama.

The former president’s  Punahou School (Honolulu, Hawaii) jersey broke records on Friday when it sold for $192,000 in Beverly Hills, California.

The shirt broke the record set last year by LeBron James’ St. Vincent-St. Mary’s jersey that was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s 2002 “The Chosen One” issue, which sold for $187,500.

Obama wore the Punahou School No. 23 jersey in the 1978-1979 season, when he helped his team win a state championship, according to Julien’s Auctions

From discussing Michael Jordan in “The Last Dance,” to shooting threes on the campaign trail, Barack Obama’s love for the game of basketball extends far beyond his high school playing career.

In his latest book, released last month “The Promised Land,” Obama discusses weekend pickup games that were organized oftentimes at an indoor court at Fort McNair Army Base or the FBI headquarters. usually playing against former D1 athletes.

“Those pickup games represented continuity for me. A tether to my old self,” said Obama.

Obama also recounts the joy he had watching his youngest daughter play years ago.

“The enjoyment that I got playing basketball, was nothing compared to the thrill and stress of rooting for Sasha, fourth-grade rec league team,” said Obama, who had a stint coaching and running plays with the team alongside White House Aide and former Duke basketball player Reggie Love.
