Shin Megami Tensei meets The Thing…
Usually, the Shin Megami Tensei series revolves around alternate demonic universes on the underside of modern or post-apocalyptic Tokyo. One reason that Strange Journey avoided a numerical tag on the end of its title is because of its setting’s huge deviation from the rest of the series.
This game brings all of the usual Shin Megami Tensei tropes like dungeon exploration, negotiating with demons, buffs and debuffs, and elemental triangle to the bottom of our planet. The game’s Antarctic setting have made it a fan-favorite over the years, and if you are new to the series thanks to Persona or Shin Megami Tensei IV, this is the best place to start branching out.
No word on an English localization yet. Shin Megami Tensei: Deep Strange Journey will be released for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan this fall.
