OnePlus 7 event info will be unveiled April 23

OnePlus is dropping the notch! After a year of notches in two of its devices, the company is adopting the full screen model with a pop-up camera.

According to the most recent renders we’ve seen, the front facing camera will be housed in a pop up camera enclosure, which looks futuristic and should make taking selfies much more fun. The render suggests that the camera pops up when you want to take a selfie, and then disappears into the phone when you’re not using it.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a pop-up camera like this. Devices such as the Vivo NEX have previously used a similar type of setup, and if OnePlus is going for the same, it’ll probably be powered by a small motor. While the design is certainly different to the hole-punches or waterdrop notches of other phones – like the Galaxy S10 Plus and Huawei P30 Pro respectively – it remains to be seen how durable a pop up camera, and internal motor, actually are after months and years of use.

It won’t have wireless charging

Yep, OnePlus isn’t jumping on the wireless charging bandwagon just yet. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed in an interview with CNET back at MWC, that the OnePlus 7 won’t have wireless charging. He said:
