Lucasfilm confirms Knights of the Old Republic project in development

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed that a Knights of the Old Republic project is in consideration, but cautioned the studio is being careful about what it pursues.

In an interview with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz, Kennedy said Lucasfilm is “developing something to look at,” when asked about Knights of the Old Republic.

“Right now I have no idea where things fall but we have to be careful that there is a cadence to Star Wars that doesn’t start to feel like too much,” Kennedy said.

There are at least six Star Wars movies in the works

Lucasfilm is currently developing six new Star Wars movies that are separate from the current Skywalker saga, so it’s understandable why Kennedy is being cautious about cadence. We don’t want there to be Star Wars overload.

Be that as it may, Knights of the Old Republic fans will be chomping at the bit over Kennedy’s comments, because of how beloved the property is.

Released in 2010, Knights of the Old Republic was a role-playing game developed by BioWare. Taking place thousands of years before the Empire, it’s considered to be the best Star Wars game ever released thanks to its immersive storytelling and deep gameplay.

Even if a Knights of the Old Republic project doesn’t happen, Star Wars fans have two new trilogies and a TV show to look forward to, the latter of which will launch alongside Disney+.
