Kit Harington says Jon Snow of Game Of Thrones will ‘forever be his favorite character’

Kit Harington says his Game Of Thrones character Jon Snow will forever be his ‘favorite’ and ‘always hold a place’ in his heart

He has played the role of Jon Snow ever since Game Of Thrones made its debut in 2011.

And with the final and eighth season premiering tonight on HBO, Kit Harington has revealed his character will forever be his favorite to play and always hold a place in his heart.

Speaking to Willie Giest on Sunday Today, the 32-year-old star revealed the show had also given him his ‘possible family’ – having met wife Rose Leslie on set.

‘Thrones, it’s given me possibly my future family. It’s given me my wife, it’s given me friends for life. It’s got a character I love, I will love, more than any other character I’ll ever play,’ he said.

‘There isn’t a way of saying thank you to it enough. There never will be and I think that comes back to the question of “How do you feel that it’s finishing?” There aren’t words to describe how I feel about it.’

And while the cast and crew have been sworn to secrecy, Kit has revealed that he was happy with the way things wrapped up for him – although not everyone may be thrilled.

So much love: 'Thrones, it's given me possibly my future family. It's given me my wife, it's given me friends for life. It's got a character I love, I will love, more than any other character I'll ever play,' he said

He's happy: 'I'm satisfied with how they finished my storyline, the storyline of Thrones,' he said, adding: 'But you cannot satisfy everyone'

But like all breakups and endings, they don’t always go smoothly.

Speaking on the Graham Norton show earlier in the week, Kit revealed that he broke down in tears when a fan asked if he was Jon Snow.

The star said: ‘I was determined to be cool about the end and decided that when people came up to me and said, “Are you Jon Snow?” that I would say very calmly, “I used to be.”

Going to miss Jon Snow! 'When I left the set for the final time I was very emotional, and when a girl came up to me and asked the inevitable question, I broke down and cried, 'I used to be!' She backed off pretty quickly!'

He also admitted during the chat that he has found it incredibly difficult to keep mom about the ending to the addictive HBO hit – spilling the beans to one pal who couldn’t care less.

‘The intensity of finishing something like this and not being able to tell anybody is so hard. It got too much, so I’ve told one person – my friend James, who doesn’t watch the show and fell asleep in the first episode of the very first season.

‘I knew then that he was zero interested in what I do. We were having a drink the other night and I told him everything about how the series ends, and he couldn’t have looked less interested if he tried!’

However viewers who do care about the ending of the show are in for a treat as Kit revealed that they have spent a huge amount of money on the eighth series.

He said: ‘They have really upped the budget and gone to town – it is really exciting. There are some incredible sequences, but I’ve woken up in the middle of the night recently thinking, “What if, after eight seasons, we’ve have mucked it up!”‘

Revealing that just one episode took 55-night shoots in a row to make, Kit says, ‘I’m not sure I should tell you about it, but it was so intense we were all on the edge of killing each other.’
