When it comes to parenting styles, Kate Hudson prefers to leave gender out of it.Â
The mother of three – who up to this point has raised boys – opened up about how she plans to raise her first daughter, Rani Rose, whom she welcomed in early October with partner Danny Fujikawa.
“It doesn’t really change my approach, but there’s definitely a difference,” Hudson, 39, told AOL in an interview published Friday. “I think you just raise your kids individually, regardless – like, a genderless (approach). We still don’t know what she’s going to identify as.”

Hudson has two other children: son Ryder, 15, with ex-husband and Black Crows singer Chris Robinson, and son Bingham, 7, with ex-fiance Matthew Bellamy, the lead singer of Muse. But this time around, the “Almost Famous” actress says she’s enjoying having another female in the house.Â
“She is incredibly feminine in her energy, her sounds and her way. It’s very different from the boys,” Hudson said. “It’s really fun to actually want to buy kids’ clothes. With the boys it was just, like, onesies. … But with her it’s a whole other ball game.”
Hudson announced her daughter’s Oct. 2 arrival on Instagram, simply writing: “She’s here.” The actress also explained the poignant origin of her daughter’s name.

“We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her (paternal) grandfather, Ron Fujikawa. Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honor,â€Â Hudson said in the Instagram announcement post.
