The anthology series, based on Mike Isaac’s bestselling book Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber, is from Billions co-creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien.
The show will focus on Uber in its infancy, when is was one of Silicon Valley’s most successful, volatile and destructive unicorns.
Gordon-Levitt will play Kalanick, the company’s CEO who was ultimately ousted in a boardroom coup.
Deadline reports that Super Pumped had initially been in development at Showtime as a limited series since as early as 2019, and has now expanded into an anthology concept that will explore an exciting new business world story each season.

‘Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a remarkably intelligent and charismatic actor, embodying charm with an unpredictable edge,’ Showtime’s EVP of scripted programming, Amy Israel, said.
‘We are beyond excited to see what he will bring to the role of Travis Kalanick, the hyper-brilliant and controversial CEO whose ambition and reckless drive threatened the very enterprise he was determined to build.
‘We are equally thrilled to be partnering on another series with Brian Koppelman, David Levien and Beth Schacter,’ she continued, ‘who always deliver provocative and deeply entertaining shows that drive cultural conversation.’
