Joey King, 27, addresses rumors she underwent a FACELIFT before the Met Gala
Joey King set the record straight on claims she went under the knife following speculation surrounding her snatched Met Gala look in May.
The actress, 27, shut down rumors about her getting a facelift but admitted that her beauty regimen ‘worked because everybody thought I had plastic surgery.’
‘I didn’t get a facelift,’ she said while making an appearance on Friday’s episode of Owen Thiele’s In Your Dreams podcast. ‘I’m glad we’re talking about this.’
Addressing people who believe she may have gotten plastic surgery for the Met Gala, she added: ‘Just want to let you know, didn’t get work done, didn’t get a facelift.’
King, who stars in Practical Magic 2 alongside Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, then revealed what she did to get her red carpet-ready look.
‘What I did do, I got a spray tan,’ King shared. ‘And then I did a 36-hour fast. No food, nothing but water, which I don’t promote that.’

She said because she attended a bachelorette party the weekend before the Met Gala, she was ‘looking swollen’ as she had been ‘drinking a lot.’
‘I looked busted,’ she said. ‘And I was like, “I gotta do a reset. I’m going to do a 24-hour fast, which is good for you to do once a month if you’re healthy enough to do anyway.”‘
She continued: ‘By the time I woke up and ordered lunch the next day, it wound up being 36 hours and everything.’
King said she also got both a lymphatic massage and a facial the day before walking the iconic steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for her second consecutive appearance at the glitzy gala.
‘We were doing everything we could to look amazing on the carpet,’ she said. ‘And guess what? It worked because everybody thought I had plastic surgery.’
The Kissing Booth star, who is married to 42-year-old director Steven Piet, made the candid admission while amid the promo tour for her latest project, the Practical Magic 2 movie.
For the long-awaited sequel, King and Maisie Williams are now playing the daughters of Sandra Bullock’s character Sally Owens after the original actresses were recasted.

Actresses Evan Rachel Wood and Alexandra Artrip previously played sisters Kylie and Antonia Owens, respectively.
In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Artrip has spoken for the first time at length about the controversial casting decision, which she said she learned about via the press.
‘There had been rumors circling around for a while [about a sequel], and all my friends and family obviously knew I was in the first one, so anytime an article came up about it, I [would get] flooded with the links,’ the former child star said.
‘When it got green-lit, I just got sent an article like everybody else,’ she added.
But Artrip explained that she didn’t expect to hear from Bullock, Nicole Kidman, who reprised her role as her ‘aunt’ and fellow witch Gillian Owens, or others who worked on the original because she left the entertainment business long ago.
Wood threw shade at the cast in response to the recasting but praised King.
‘I really appreciated Joey King reaching out to me because no one who worked on the original film did. She’s a sweetheart,’ Wood wrote on an Instagram Story post on September 1.
King also told The Hollywood Reporter about the ‘lovely’ chat they had together about the recasting.

‘I just was so appreciative of the support that she showed to me and to the rest of the cast. She is so talented and so beautiful and she made this role so special when she was a young girl,’ King told the outlet.
‘I feel so grateful to be able to play Kylie at this age but I love Evan so much and I’m so appreciative of her kind words and the exchange that her and I shared.’
The film’s director Susanne Bier later told the outlet that the recasting was necessary because the Owens sisters are in a ‘certain age group.
‘In the story, they’re just, like, literally out of college, and with Joey and Maisie, it just felt completely right,’ she said.’
