The New Jersey-born actress, who’s been seen in American Gigolo, Ray Donovan and The Event, thanked all of the people involved in making her wedding a romantic and memorable event.
‘You all made it so special and a truly magical weekend that we will never forget,’ McComb said. ‘We are sitting here counting our many blessings. Thank you to everyone who made this so special for us!’
Van Der Beek, also known for his roles in Varsity Blues, One Tree Hill and CSI: Cyber, was a father to six children with wife Kimberly, 44, whom he wed in 2010, the same year he split with McComb.
Following Van Der Beek’s death more than three months back, McComb took to Instagram saying she was ‘heartbroken over the loss of beloved James’ and ‘especially heartbroken’ for ‘his amazing family’.
McComb reflected on her time with the actor and the ‘journey we shared over the years’, adding she was grateful ‘for the special connection, friendship and love’ she shared with the late star.
She called the late star ‘a beautiful soul filled with so much light, love, talent, humour, depth, sensitivity, knowledge and a deep love of God that shined through him.
‘He shined so bright yet was so humble and human. Always searching, always growing, always going deeper, always chasing things outside his comfort zone.’
McComb praised Van Der Beek as a family man, saying she knew that he ‘loved being a father so much’ and ‘loved Kimberly with his everything’, calling them ‘true soulmates’.

‘How she showed up for him with such grace is so beautiful and something I will forever admire. James was a blessing to all that knew him and because of his boldness to share his journey with the world so bravely is now a blessing to all.’
Van Der Beek was also well-remembered by a number of his colleagues in show business following news of his passing.
Van Der Beek and McComb’s divorce was described as ‘totally amicable’ by his representative in a March 2010 People article detailing the split.
Following mediation, Van Der Beek was ordered to pay McComb spousal support for two years, while retaining the North Hollywood home they lived in, and rights to his residuals and screenplays.
‘They remain good friends,’ his representative told the publication.
According to the outlet, the former pair’s July 2003 wedding in Malibu, California, was attended by celebrity friends such as Dawson’s Creek co-stars Michelle Williams and Busy Philipps, as well as Punky Brewster alum Soleil Moon Frye.
Van Der Beek last year touched on the emotional impact of his public health battle.
He told the Today Show in December it was ‘overwhelming’ in a good way to be on the receiving end of kind words and well-wishes from concerned family, friends and fans.

Van Der Beek said: ‘I never expected that. I never just stopped to appreciate what I’d done. And I will say, every time somebody says, “I’m praying for you, and I’m wishing you the best,” I appreciate it.’
Van Der Beek is survived by his children with Kimberly: Olivia, 15, Joshua, 14, Annabel, 12, Emilia, ten, and Gwendolyn, seven, and Jeremiah, four.
Kimberly took to Instagram at the time with the heartbreaking news, saying, ‘Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning.
‘He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace,’ she said. ‘There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come.
‘For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.’
