“Wonder Woman 1984” is headed to HBO Max on Christmas Day.

Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins’ second superhero collaboration, delayed by COVID-19, will now be released Dec. 25 on the streaming platform, as well as in theaters that remain open amid the pandemic.

The $200 million sequel was originally scheduled for a June 5 theatrical release before being delayed to Aug. 14, then Oct. 2 and later Dec. 25.

“The time has come,” Jenkins wrote on Twitter Wednesday, announcing the streaming move. “At some point you have to choose to share any love and joy you have to give, over everything else. We love our movie as we love our fans, so we truly hope that our film brings a little bit of joy and reprieve to all of you this holiday season.”

Jenkins encouraged fans watch the movie in theaters “where it is made safe to do so” and from the safety of their homes “where it is not.”

Gadot echoed the “It’s time” sentiment on Twitter.

“We’ve all waited a long time for this one to come,” Gadot wrote. “It wasn’t an easy decision and we never thought we’d have to hold onto the release for such a long time. But Covid rocked all of our worlds.”

“As we navigate these unprecedented times, we’ve had to be innovative in keeping our businesses moving forward while continuing to super-serve our fans,” Ann Sarnoff, WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group CEO, said in the studio’s announcement.
