George Clooney and longtime wife Amal Clooney celebrated his birthday in St. Tropez last week.
The actor turned 65 and Amal, 48, treated him to a bash full of surprises – including having his friends show up in disguise.
‘I just surprised him on his birthday, actually with a number of things that…’ Amal began sharing with British Vogue at the King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Celebration in London on Monday.
‘Yeah, she had friends of mine show up posing,’ the Hollywood vet started before his wife chimed in, saying they were ‘Posing as waiters.’
He joked, ‘It’s a dangerous thing to surprise someone when they turn 65 because you could drop.
‘You know, that could be the end of you, so you have to be very careful when you surprise people.’

Despite the risky surprise, the actor said, ‘Yeah, well I’m still standing, barely.’
The couple are parents to fraternal twins Alexander and Ella, who turn nine next month.

Amal shared a word of advice for the kids while speaking with Vogue: ‘I think we want them to stay curious, ask lots of questions and challenge the things that don’t make sense to them, like much of what’s going on in the world.’
Meanwhile, Clooney – who co-founded the tequila brand Casamigos – lightheartedly referenced cocktails as he advised, ‘Don’t mix grain and grape. I think that’s important for the children to know, don’t mix the two.’
The parents were child-free days ago while enjoying a leisurely lunch with friends at Club 55 in St. Tropez.
The exclusive club and restaurant offers breathtaking beach views, making it an ideal escape for a special occasion.
The actor and humanitarian rights lawyer tied the knot in September 2014.
Their trip along the French Riviera came after the leading man insisted he’s ‘never had an argument’ with his wife because he ‘doesn’t care’ about petty gripes.

He recently told CBS Mornings the pair never had a proper ‘fight’ because he doesn’t feel the need to ‘be right.’
He explained, ‘Well, when you’re younger, you want to be right about everything, you know. “Don’t paint that color on the wall.”
‘And you know, Amal and I – everybody gets ticked off when I say it – but we’ve never had a fight. We never had an argument. And some of it is because I’m at this point in life where if she wants to paint the wall red, I don’t care.
‘You get to a point in life where you just go: “Why would that be a discussion or an argument?” We have a really amazing relationship because we’re also so supportive of each other that it’s like, “I don’t care.”‘
He said that when he was younger, he ‘would have found things to, you know, stick my chest out about that I can [now say]: “It doesn’t matter, I don’t care.”‘
Ever the supportive wife, Amal was by her husband’s side as he was honored for his work in cinema at the 51st Chaplin Award Gala in late April.
