Ashley Tisdale has discovered she is related to Austin Butler.

The 37-year-old actress is very close with Austin, 31, whom she starred with in her 2011 direct-to-video High School Musical spinoff Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure.

Speaking on a new episode of Ancestry’s 2 Lies and A Leaf YouTube series, she said it was ‘inasne’ that they are 10th cousins once removed because they were always ‘like brother and sister.’

She exclaimed: ‘Austin and I always say that we’re like fraternal twins born very far apart because he’s much younger and we’ve always had that connection.’

The High School Musical star continued: ‘It’s no wonder! We’ve always said we were brother and sister. That is insane!’

She was moved almost to the point of tears by the revelation and was then seen receiving a text message from the Elvis star, who was also in shock at the news.

Ashley said: ‘I literally am gonna cry. He just texted me! He goes: “No f***ing way!”‘

In 2021, Ashley reflected on her long friendship with Austin as part of a 30t birthday post where she hailed him as her slightly younger twin.

Ashely gushed in her heartwarming Instagram post: ‘You’ve been my best friend since you were 15 so that’s 15 years strong of friendship!’ 

The blonde bombshell added: ‘I am beyond proud of you and everything you’re accomplishing but most importantly proud of the person you are.’

She continued: ‘You’ve been my closest friend through the years,, you’re the type of friend that came over when I was crying on the floor from a horrible breakup and not only lifted me off the ground but brought my favorite candy. There’s no one like you Austin, you’re my twin born.’

Ashley is married to musician Christopher French and has a 20-month-old daughter Jupiter with him. Austin is dating Cindy Crawford’s 21-year-old daughter Kaia Gerber.

Austin previously spent over eight years dating Vanessa Hudgens, who incidentally starred in High School Musical as Ashley’s love rival.
